McNair Program benefits include:

  • Eligibility to receive a $2,800 stipend for academic year and/or summer research.
  • A relationship with a faculty research mentor for guidance through the research project and an introduction to your academic discipline.
  • Senior Professional Development and Graduate School Admissions Seminar (fall of Senior year).
  • Junior Professional Development and Graduate School Admissions Seminar (spring of Junior year).
  • Support services including: academic seminars, individual surveys and assessments, and tutoring services as needed.
  • Opportunities to visit graduate school programs.
  • Opportunities to attend local, regional, and national McNair and/or discipline specific conferences to present research.*
  • Supplementary funding to attend Graduate School Open Houses/Visitation Programs and Graduate School Admitted Student "Meet & Greet" Events
  • Financial education and advising including: a money management workshop, and workshops on graduate and doctoral program funding alternatives.

  • Assistance applying to graduate schools, summer undergraduate research programs and graduate school visitation programs.

  • Eligibility for graduate school McNair Fellowships offer by graduate schools.
  • Graduate school application fee waivers from participating graduate schools.
  • Access to McNair computer lab, lounge, free poster printing, and so much more.

McNair Fellows are afforded opportunities to conduct funded scholarly research and engage in intentional professional development and cohort building programming in order to have the experiences and hone the skills necessary for success in doctoral education.

*Travel funds are contingent upon program participation, conducting an oral or poster presentation at the conference and are granted at the discretion of the director.
